The City Council met in session on Tuesday evening, January 30, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Harold L. Ludwig presiding and the following Council members present: Lowe, Griesbaum, Rossiter, Wiewel, Martin and Sherwood. Mayor Ludwig asked for a motion to go into closed session. Griesbaum motioned to go into closed session. Martin second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Martin made the motion to go back into open session. Griesbaum second the motion. Motion carried with five yes, with Wiewel being out of the room. Mayor Ludwig turned the floor over to Chairman Wiewel of the Police Committee. Wiewel stated the Committee had met and held interviews for dispatchers. The positions being offered is one full time position and one part-time position at this time. Wiewel stated of the ones interviewed the Committee was recommending Ryan Dorrell for the full time position and George Calton for the part-time position. Wiewel motioned to hire the Dorrell for the full time position and Calton for the part-time position. Lowe second the motion. The following roll call vote was taken. Griesbaum Yes, Wiewel Yes, Martin Yes, Sherwood Yes, Rossiter No and Lowe Yes. Rossiter stated for the record, he would like his no vote to be recorded he opposed to hiring people who live outside the City over the Citizens of the City. Mayor Ludwig asked Chief Baker when he would like to have another Committee meeting to interview for Police officers. Chief Baker stated he would like to set the meeting for 02/08/01 at 7:00. Mayor Ludwig stated there is a special meeting on Wednesday, February 07,2001 with DNR. USDA and Klingner Association regarding the wastewater treatment plant. Chief Baker stated he would contact the individuals for the Police Officers position and set up 20 minute interviews. Griesbaum motioned to have Chief Baker find out more information on the cost of having Ed Campbell come talk to the Council regarding litigation. Sherwood second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Having nothing further before the Council, Griesbaum motioned to adjourn. Martin second the motion. Motion carried all six yes.
