May 02, 2000 SPECIAL SESSION COUNCIL MEETING

The City Council met in special session on Monday evening, May01, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Harold L. Ludwig presiding and the following Council members present; Lowe, Ayers, Burbridge, Martin, Sherwood and Wiewel. Mayor Ludwig stated the first item on the agenda was opening bids for items placed for sale in the Press News Journal. Oil - Sam Henderson $100.00, Sweeper - Sam Henderson $100.00, Snow blade - Sam Henderson $15.00, Scrape Iron - Sam Henderson $150.00, 3 motor - Sam Henderson $15.00, folding chairs - Sam Henderson -$15.00. Desks - Jim Vaughn $12.52, Folding chairs - Jim Vaughn $5.00, Oiler - Jim Vaughn $75.00. Oiler - Hartley Tasco - $160.00, Sweeper - Hartley Tasco $50.00, Scrape Iron - Hartley Tasco $110.00, Motors (3)- Hartley Tasco $10.00 each. Ayers motioned to accept Hartley Tasco bid on Oiler and motors. Martin second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Wiewel motioned to accept Jim Vaughn bid on the desk. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Wiewel motioned to accept Sam Henderson bid on the remaining items. Martin second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Mayor Ludwig stated the City has been given a copy of the revised proposed ordinance #400 Amending and establishing the city Building commissioners duties, and establishing procedures, for demolition of unsafe and dangerous buildings within the City of LaGrange, Mo. Discussion was held. Ayers motioned to table this ordinance until the new Council is sworn in and each new Council member has a copy of this ordinance. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Mayor Ludwig stated the City received a letter from Larry Seckington, regarding Block 22, lots 9,10,11,12,13 and 14. The letter stated they would be willing to lease this property. Ayers stated he hoped the City would add a rider to any land purchase of having to clean the property up and maintain it. Wiewel motioned to have the property appraised. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Discussion was held on the finances for the Maintenance Building and Fire Station. Ayers motioned to take a five minute recess for the City Clerk to get materials. Wiewel second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Sherwood motioned to go back into session. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Ayers motioned to have the City Clerk provide the Council with a complete list of all bills paid. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Sherwood motioned to go into closed session for personnel. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes. Lowe motioned to go back into open session. Burbridge second the motion, Motion carried all six yes. Having no further business before the Council, Martin motioned to adjourn. Lowe second the motion. Motion carried all six yes.
